FAQ

Is it really S3-compatible?

Yes. It implements the core S3 API, so S3 tools, SDKs, and applications work once you set the endpoint, region, and access keys. See S3 API compatibility.

Do I need a separate backup of my objects?

No separate backup is needed to protect against loss of a storage location. Shard and Spread™ keeps your data recoverable even if a location is lost, and versioning lets you recover earlier versions. See Security and resilience.

Can a single location be compromised to read my data?

No. No single location holds a complete, readable copy, so reaching one location does not expose your objects.

How is access controlled?

Through the product’s own identity and access management, which is separate from your corporate identity system. See User and access keys.

Where is my data stored?

Your data is fragmented and spread across independent storage locations. You choose a bucket location when you create a bucket. See Connecting over S3.
